Aurora Aksnes' earliest musical memories involve finding an instrument hidden in the attic of her home, and being captivated by the sound it made. Her parents May-Britt and Jan Oystein Aksnes encouraged her to pursue music not as a profession or a pastime, but to grow. In the end, she began writing the music she composed herself. As well as Bjork, she cites Leonard Cohen as an influence. Her mom encouraged her to play her music publicly, not to achieve fame, but rather to let others know how important they are and what they can do for humanity. Piano was her first instrument when she was six, and she started making music at the age of nine. Her family didn't know about this until she reached the age of fourteen. Aurora was not a dream of her childhood. Her sole passion is to write music. According to her, music is the most effective way to express anything.
